I barrack for Melbourne (for my sins) and didn’t have too much of a vested interest in who won the grand final. But that time after the final siren was a bizarre, almost surreal moment. The players didn’t know what to do and the people in the grandstands were stunned and silent. After a week of mounting hysteria, and constant references back to the ghost of 1966, the silence was very telling.
